In plain terms

Any UK ground receiving station that wants to connect to the electricity grid must be able to supply or absorb a type of power called reactive power, under an existing UK grid rule.

The claim as recorded

Obtaining a grid connection in Great Britain requires the ability to provide or absorb reactive power, a requirement known as the Obligatory Reactive Power Service (ORPS), which the report states would apply to any GB-based rectenna seeking a grid connection.

Scope and limits

This establishes that the requirement exists and would apply; it does not establish that any specific rectenna design meets it, nor does it say anything about grid-code requirements outside Great Britain.

What it assumes

A UK rectenna would be treated as a conventional grid-connected generator for the purposes of GB connection codes, with no SBSP-specific exemption.

How often this is required, and the quantities involved are strongly locationally dependent." Confirmed verbatim against the PDF text layer.

Basis: Great Britain grid-code requirement, as described for a rectenna grid connection
