In plain terms

There is still no international radio allocation for beaming power from space, and the studies are not due until 2031.

The claim as recorded

No ITU allocation or protection criterion exists for space-to-Earth wireless power transmission, and Resolution 910 of WRC-23 directs studies for completion in time for WRC-31. Of the ITU wireless power transmission reports, SM.2505-0 encourages administrations to follow the ICNIRP and IEEE guidelines "or limits set by their own experts"; SM.2392-1 describes the solar power satellite as an application (s2.9) but sets no allocation or protection criterion for it.

Scope and limits

Establishes the position in SM.2505-0 (2022) and SM.2392-1 (2021). Both were superseded in 06/2026: SM.2505-1 is not held, and SM.2392-2 is held in full but this record has not been re-read against it; SM.2392-2 s2.9 covers space-based solar power via satellite, with a UK subsection (itu.int contents page, read 2026-10-01). WRC-27 outcomes are not covered.
