In plain terms

Converting the 2022 European Space Agency space solar power cost estimate onto the same basis gives roughly 27 to 110 pounds per megawatt-hour depending on percentile, unit count and return rate used.

The claim as recorded

Restating Frazer-Nash/ESA 2022's CASSIOPeiA FOAK LCOE (EUR106-206/MWh p10-p90, 2022 prices, 20% hurdle, 30yr life) to 2024 GBP, 20-year life gives GBP32.4-63.0/MWh at 3% real discount rate and GBP56.6-110.1/MWh at 10% real discount rate; the NOAK (10th unit) figure (EUR88.5-155.5/MWh p50-p90 native) restates to GBP27.1-47.6/MWh at 3% and GBP47.3-83.1/MWh at 10%.

Scope and limits

1.44 GW system, not directly size-comparable to NASA's ~2GW designs without a scaling adjustment that cannot be made rigorously (see CLM-0387).

What it assumes

Same CRF-ratio and currency-conversion method as CLM-0370; no single central (p50) FOAK figure was stated by the source, so p10 and p90 are carried separately rather than an invented midpoint.

Where it comes from

This is the project's own working, shown in full:

CALC-063 Every other institutional estimate restated by the CRF shortcut
restate-lcoe.py trace, CLM-0280-restate-* sections. Worked example: EUR106.00 x EA HICP mult 1.0793 = EUR2024 114.41; x 0.8466 GBP-per-EUR (2024 FX) = GBP2024 96.86; x CRF ratio 0.3347 (3%,20yr) = 32.4.

Basis: GBP2024, 20-year asset life, 3% and 10% real discount rate
