In plain terms

The Government's formal reply to the 2025 Lords report on UK space policy does not mention space-based solar power. None of the committee's 40 recommendations, as the reply reprints them, is about it either.

The claim as recorded

The UK Government's response to the House of Lords UK Engagement with Space Committee report (CP 1478, January 2026) does not mention space-based solar power: across its 36 pages, which reproduce and answer all 40 of the committee's recommendations, "solar" occurs 0 times, and "power beaming" and "wireless" also occur 0 times, while "space" occurs 324 times and "satellite" 29 times (whole words, case-insensitive); its only use of "energy" is in a list of essential services that space underpins.

Scope and limits

This is a null over the government response only. The committee's own report (HL Paper 190) was NOT OBTAINED (Cloudflare challenge and 403, not bypassed), so whether the report's body discusses space-based solar power, outside its recommendations, is still unknown; OI-032 stays half-open for that document. A zero count shows the response does not discuss the topic, not that the Government holds any view on it. The written evidence on SBSP (CLM-0288) was submitted to the committee, not answered in this document.

What it assumes

That the response reprints each recommendation's full text, as the recommendations seen at PDF pp.8-33 appear to.

Where it comes from

SRC-739 CP 1478: Government response to the House of Lords UK Engagement with Space Committee report...
Measured 2026-10-03 on the held PDF: "solar" 0 (case-insensitive, as a substring), "beam" 0, "wireless" 0, "net zero" 0; controls, as whole words, case-insensitive: "space" 324, "satellite" 29, "ESA" 29. Recommendations 1 to 40 all appear, none missing (Recommendation 1 at PDF p.8, Recommendation 40 at PDF p.33). The single "energy" (PDF p.6, printed p.4): "It underpins essential services across communications, navigation, finance, energy, and emergency response."
