In plain terms

Japan's December 2025 space roadmap plans to launch a solar power demonstration satellite, OHISAMA, on a private Kairos rocket in the year from April 2026, to beam power from low orbit to the ground.

The claim as recorded

The FY2025 revision of Japan's space roadmap, decided on 2025-12-23, plans (our translation) the launch and in-orbit demonstration of an SSPS demonstration satellite from FY2026, and R&D aimed at demonstrating energy transmission from low Earth orbit to the ground around FY2026. It also plans an in-orbit demonstration of large space-structure construction technology. Its launch chart places the SSPS demonstration satellite OHISAMA on a Kairos rocket in FY2026, which it marks as a current target that may change.

Evidence behind this: T3, a government roadmap's stated plan; it permits "the roadmap plans Y from date Z" only, not that the launch is funded or will keep to schedule.

Scope and limits

A plan, not a commitment: no power level, distance, orbit altitude, budget or date for any grid-connected or commercial system is given, so QST-027's first-power year and rating stay unanswered for Japan. FY2026 is Japan's fiscal year, April 2026 to March 2027. The Kairos rocket's own readiness is outside this source. The launch mark's column was read from a render, not the text layer.
