In plain terms

A start-up, TerraSpark, says Luxembourg is paying it, through a European Space Agency contract, to build a test that sends power without wires over 100 m on the ground, plus research on solar cells and receiving antennas for power satellites in low orbit. Only the company has said so.

The claim as recorded

On 2026-09-28 the company TerraSpark stated on its blog that it "has been contracted to build a 100 metre wireless power transfer demonstration" (project Earth Spark), funded by the Government of Luxembourg through an ESA contract in the Luxembourg National Space Programme LuxIMPULSE, managed by the Luxembourg Space Agency with ESA as technical partner; that the "multi-million Euro" contract is signed and an ESA design review completed; and that the "two-phase contract" also funds R&D on space solar cells and rectenna concepts for space-based solar power from low Earth orbit. This records what the company published; no independent confirmation of the contract has been obtained.

Evidence behind this: T6, a company blog post about the company's own contract; it permits "X stated Y on date Z" only.

Scope and limits

The company announcing its own contract; neither the Luxembourg Space Agency nor ESA has been read confirming it, and the value is given only as "multi-million Euro". The post gives no power level, frequency, efficiency, site or date for the 100 m demonstration: it is planned work, not a result. The LinkedIn post of the same day (SRC-621) is the company restating its blog on another channel, not an independent source, and the Luxembourg Space Agency and ESA have still not been read confirming the contract; it too gives no power, frequency, efficiency, site or date for the demonstration.

What it assumes

text p0001: TerraSpark "has been contracted to build a 100 metre wireless power transfer demonstration". The same paragraph says the project is funded by the Government of Luxembourg through an ESA contract in the LuxIMPULSE programme, managed by the Luxembourg Space Agency with ESA as technical partner. Same page: the "multi-million Euro" contract is signed and the ESA design review completed; the "two-phase contract" funds the full-scale 100 m demo and R&D on the company's space solar cells and rectenna concepts for space-based solar power from low Earth orbit. SRC-621 (LinkedIn post, 2026-09-28, read from the screenshot; body held as a transcript): the design review is complete, which the post says moves Earth Spark "from planning to execution"; the contract funds the 100 m demo and research on future space solar cells and "advanced rectenna concepts"; the next step is scaling to longer distances, higher power and higher efficiency (paraphrase).
