In plain terms

A search of a large research index on 4 September 2026 found 2551 papers on space-based solar power and not one whose title or summary mentions grid codes, fault ride-through, reactive power, harmonic distortion, grid-forming or power quality.

The claim as recorded

A measurement of the OpenAlex bibliographic index on 2026-09-04 returns 2551 works whose title or abstract matches "solar power satellite" or "space solar power" or "space-based solar power", and zero of those works additionally match any of "grid code", "fault ride", "reactive power", "harmonic distortion", "grid forming", "grid connection", "power quality" or "transmission system operator"; the single match for "system inertia" is a paper on identifying a satellite's inertia tensor from attitude sensors, not on power-system inertia, all ten matches for "short circuit" are solar-cell short-circuit current papers, and the only substantive match in the whole sweep is one 2024 work matching "ancillary service", so the indexed peer-reviewed literature on space-based solar power contains essentially no treatment of grid-interface compliance at title or abstract level.

Scope and limits

This measures indexed title and abstract text, not the literature. These are OpenAlex work counts under a specific filter on a specific date, not occurrence counts and not a full-text search. It does NOT show that no such work exists; it shows that none is findable this way. Many older and some paywalled records carry no abstract, so a paper that treats grid-code compliance only in its body would be missed. It also does not cover grey literature, conference proceedings outside the index, industry studies, or non-English work not indexed with an English abstract. And it says nothing about whether the question has been addressed inside a commercial or government study that was never published.

What it assumes

That OpenAlex's abstract coverage is adequate for the baseline set. It is not complete: many older and some paywalled records carry no abstract, so a paper discussing grid-code compliance in its body but not in its title or abstract would be missed entirely. This is a vocabulary measurement over indexed metadata, not over full text.

Where it comes from

This is the project's own working, shown in full:

CALC-036 OpenAlex null measurement: SBSP literature against grid-connection terminology
Method: OpenAlex works endpoint, filter title_and_abstract.search, baseline term set ("solar power satellite" OR "space solar power" OR "space-based solar power"), each test term added with AND, run 2026-09-04 with a contact address supplied. Counts as returned: baseline 2551; "grid code" 0; "fault ride" 0; "reactive power" 0; "harmonic distortion" 0; "grid forming" 0; "grid connection" 0; "power quality" 0; "transmission system operator" 0; "system inertia" 1; "ancillary service" 1; "short circuit" 10. The non-zero results were then listed and read. The single "system inertia" hit is "Recursive identification of inertia tensor parameters of space solar power satellite based on distributed placement of attitude sensors" (2022). The ten "short circuit" hits are all photovoltaic device papers, for example "Effects of Electron and Proton Radiation on Perovskite Solar Cells for Space Solar Power Application" (2017) and "Impact of solar cell failure on the performance of solar arrays in space" (2024). The single "ancillary service" hit is "Stellar Energy: Harnessing Satellite Solar Power for a Sustainable Earth" (2024), which was not retrieved. A separate Crossref bibliographic query on the same term pairs returned, as its best matches, terrestrial photovoltaic grid-code and fault-ride-through papers rather than any SBSP paper, which is consistent with there being no SBSP paper to match.

Basis: work counts from the OpenAlex API, title_and_abstract.search filter, run 2026-09-04; counts of records, not of occurrences, and not full-text search
