In plain terms

A major financial advisory firm's own widely-used LCOE report says plainly that its numbers do not cover intermittency or total system cost.

The claim as recorded

Lazard states of its own LCOE+ analysis that it "does not consider the intermittent nature of selected renewable energy technologies or the related grid impacts of incremental renewable energy deployment," that it is "a cost-focused benchmarking tool, and not a planning tool or total system-cost analysis," and lists explicitly, in a published table, that it does not say "what total system costs are for 1 MWh of incremental electricity."

Scope and limits

Every page of the source PDF carries a "CONFIDENTIAL" template header; this is recorded as Lazard's standard boilerplate on its annual public release (obtained with no login from Lazard's own public research-insights page), consistent with every prior LCOE+ edition, but is flagged here in case that judgement needs revisiting.

What it assumes

No assumptions are recorded against this claim.
