- CLM-1290 A 1963 US aviation agency study set the safe level for an aircraft flying through a radar or radio beam at the then human exposure limit, 10 milliwatts per square centimetre, and ten times lower for aircraft carrying explosive devices.
- CLM-1291 The 1963 study assumed an aircraft crosses a radar beam in a few seconds at most, too short to wear out its radio parts, though a switched-off radar set could still be damaged by a strong pulse.
