In plain terms
A small Canadian group founded in 2025 campaigns for space solar power. It wants tax breaks for companies working on it, a promise that the government will buy the power, and a law it has drafted itself.
The claim as recorded
The Space-Based Solar Power Foundation, a Canadian body that describes itself as "an independent, non-partisan non-profit" and gives its founding year as 2025, states on its website as retrieved on 2026-10-02 that its mission is "to make SBSP a pillar of Canada's energy, economy, security, and climate plans", and asks the federal government for targeted tax incentives for firms spending on SBSP development, capital gains exemptions to attract private investment, a commitment that Canada will buy SBSP energy from firms once they are ready, and "a clear federal signal that SBSP is a national priority", through an "Aerospace Jobs Creation Act" that it says it has written.
Evidence behind this: T5: an advocacy body's own website and profile; a statement of its position, not evidence for the claims it makes about SBSP.
Scope and limits
The body's own statement of its aims and asks, not evidence that any of them has support. Nothing held shows that the "Aerospace Jobs Creation Act" has been tabled in Parliament or that any MP sponsors it; the site invites contact "to review and support this legislation". The body is small on its own figures (LinkedIn: 0-1 employees, 1 associated member, 14 followers as captured). Its non-profit status is self-stated and was not checked against a Canadian registry. The site's statements that SBSP "can solve all of Canada's critical challenges" and that the power beams are "safe" are advocacy and are not evidence for either; they are left out of the claim. The page carries no date, so asof is the retrieval date.
What it assumes
No assumptions are recorded against this claim.
Where it comes from
sbspf.org home page, retrieved 2026-10-02 (visible text): the self-description, the mission sentence and the last of the four asks, as quoted in the claim; the other three asks are paraphrased from the list under the heading "We're calling for:"; the bill appears as "Pass The Aerospace Jobs Creation Act We've Written the Bill That Will Make SBSP a Reality". LinkedIn About page (operator screenshot): "Founded 2025", "0-1 employees". The page prints curly apostrophes; they are given here as ASCII.
