Low confidence
The evidence behind this statement is thin, indirect or second-hand. Read it as a lead to check, not as a settled finding.
In plain terms
In December 2025 Britain's system operator said that 283 gigawatts of generation and storage, out of more than 700 gigawatts that had been waiting to connect, would be prioritised for connection, split between projects needed by 2030 and by 2035.
The claim as recorded
The GB system operator stated on 8 December 2025 that 283 GW of generation and storage and almost 100 GW of new or expanded transmission demand connections had received prioritised Gate 2 connection status under its reformed connections process, out of a previous queue of more than 700 GW of generation and storage projects, with 132 GW identified as aligned with the UK government's Clean Power 2030 target and a further 151 GW identified as needed by 2035.
Scope and limits
T6. This is evidence of what the system operator stated, and when. Nothing more. It is not evidence that any capacity will connect, and the queue figures move: the underlying Gate 2 results data was not downloaded. It says nothing about whether an SBSP project could obtain Gate 2 status, and the process criteria were not read. The page says projects in the pipeline are to get Gate 2 connection offers in two tranches, for 2030 and for 2035, and that projects may reapply in later application windows, the next in the second half of 2026, so the pipeline can change; it does not say any agreement had been signed by 8 December 2025.
What it assumes
That the page is the system operator's own statement of its own process outcome, which for this class of fact is the primary record.
Where it comes from
, the NESO press release dated 8 December 2025, in a copy retrieved on 16 October 2026, in paraphrase: the reformed pipeline covers 283 GW of generation and storage, plus 99 GW of demand connected at transmission level, which the body rounds to almost 100 GW; the earlier queue for generation and storage held over 700 GW; of the 283 GW, 132 GW is matched to the Clean Power 2030 target and a further 151 GW to need by 2035; projects in the pipeline are to get Gate 2 connection offers in two tranches, for 2030 and for 2035.
Basis: capacity in GW of projects prioritised in the reformed GB connections pipeline, the route by which they are to be offered Gate 2 connection agreements
